Stress Reduction

UCSD Health Employee Wellness Program Partners with UCSD Health Center for Mindfulness

What is the UC San Diego Health Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course at the Center for Mindfulness? The MBSR course involves cultivating a different relationship between you and the areas that challenge you in your life, relying on tools you already have.  Mindfulness helps you to access the ability to be non-judgmental, compassionate, patient, present and aware.  MBSR has helped people see positive improvements in a variety of areas including:

·                   Chronic pain
·         Stress
·         Anxiety and worry
·         Chronic medical illness
·         Depression
·         Relationship challenges
·         Substance abuse
·         Sleep disturbance
·         Hypertension
·         Headaches
·         Grief and Loss

What benefits do UCSD Health employees receive?
·         UC San Diego Health employees are eligible for a yearly subsidy of $210 to cover up to 50% of the 8-week MBSR course
o   If you would like to transfer the subsidy to another course you may.  The subsidy will cover up to 50% of the course or workshop with a fiscal year cap of $210
o   For example, an employee takes a stress reduction course which costs $200; $100 would be covered by the subsidy.  The participant has $110 left for the year ($210 - $100 = $110).  If they choose to do another course that year they may apply the remainder of the subsidy, covering up to 50% of a course.
·         Upon confirmation that the employee works for UCSD Health, the UCSD Center for Mindfulness will charge the employee 50% of the program fee (within $210).
